What to do if your favorite free sports stream does not work in your country?

Some of these websites might not be available in your country. If that is the case, you can use a VPN application to change your digital location. That way, you can access the internet as if you were in another country. And gain access to free sports streaming sites that would otherwise be blocked for you.

In addition to giving you access to streaming services from all over the world, a VPN also ensures that you stay anonymous and secure online.

A good VPN when you want to stream sports for free is NordVPN. It’s fast, user-friendly and there is an extensive money-back guarantee of 30 days. Just try it out with the orange button below.

Also, always make sure that it’s legal to stream sports games for free in your country. Not every service mentioned might be suitable for the country you’re in right now, so always check to make sure you’re not doing anything that’s not allowed.

To learn more about the best free sports streaming websites, check out our complete guide below.

Streaming sports online for free is getting easier thanks to websites created for just that purpose. Paying for yet another service isn’t the most attractive idea, especially if you don’t have the time or budget to commit to a large sports package. That’s why we made this guide about free sports streaming websites! Whether you want to watch Formula 1 for free, kickboxing, or NFL, we got you covered.

Before you start using the websites in this guide, you should check your country’s streaming laws to ensure it’s legal to stream sports games for free. As with most legal matters, the legality of streaming content depends on a variety of factors.

The legality of streaming sports online can also depend on the nature of the website you’re using. Streaming live events using official apps, such as Fox Sports, is usually legal. On the other hand, some of the unofficial sites listed below can occasionally redirect you to illegal streams.

We’ve split our list into official and unofficial sites to help concerned users avoid any potential illegal streams. With that said, let’s jump into the list of best free sports streaming websites.

Best Official Free Sports Streaming Websites

The following sites are all official and stream licensed content. This means that the streams themselves are entirely legal. Of course, the downside is that each service may not always be free. For some, you may require an existing cable package, while for others you may need to purchase a subscription. Nevertheless, each site is a great repository of sports content and is sure to be of use to sports enthusiasts.

1. Fox Sports

Fox Sports LogoFox Sports launched in 2013 as an additional way for cable and satellite customers to stream sports when they were away from their TV. Since 2019, Fox Sports has offered regional sports networks, as well as Fox Sports Midwest, YES Network, and Prime Ticket. The Fox Sports app allows access to Big Ten Network, Fox Deportes, FOX, College Sports regional networks, FS1, and FS2.

While the service itself is free, you need to log in through your TV provider to access the streams. This is great if you’re using a TV provider that includes one of the networks required because you’ll have instant access to live streams on your phone or browser.

However, if you don’t have a subscription to one of the networks above you may need to choose a different streaming service. If you can’t access Fox Sports due to the country you’re in, you can refer to our article which explains how to use a VPN to stream FoxSports.

While the highlights and analysis videos are free, you will require a subscription to watch live matches. You can either use your existing TV/cable subscription to log in or purchase a streaming subscription on the website itself.

ESPN is available on PCs, Macs, Android devices, and iPhones making it easy to watch your favorite sports on the go.

Just like the other two, NBC also offers live streaming of sports content on its website and app. Some well-known sports personalities, such as Rich Eisen and Dan Patrick, host their podcasts and talk shows on the network as well.

NBC covers golf, soccer, rugby, and cycling in addition to traditional American sports. Of course, much like ESPN and Fox, you will need a subscription to watch live content. Though if you use a TV service like Dish, Verizon, Spectrum, Cable One, etc. you should be able to access live matches for free.

ProsCons

Live match timings and scores are provided

4. BBC iPlayer

BBC iPlayer logo

BBC iPlayer is a streaming website that lets you watch games from the U.K ad-free. You can also access the streams by using a VPN to connect to a U.K.-based server from your own country. Once you have access to the streaming service, you can watch live sports using the iPlayer interface.

Through the iPlayer, you can stream football, golf, cricket, cycling, basketball, and soccer. You can stream the content in HD if it’s recorded in this quality. There’s an option for 4K streaming but this is limited to select streams through the iPlayer.

However, some users have complained that the streaming quality has a tough time staying consistent at high-definition quality if their internet speed drops slightly.

ProsCons

5. SonyLIV

Sony Liv LogoIf you’re looking for a streaming service to watch soccer games, SonyLIV is one of your best options. Supported by Sony, this website provides you with free high-definition quality sports streaming options. You can also stream tennis, cricket, UFC, MotoGP, WWE, and the NBA through SonyLIV.

If the site is not available in your country, you might need a VPN to change your digital location. You can also access the platform on your Android or iOS devices through their respective apps.

The biggest drawback to SonyLIV is that most of the content available is provided from India, resulting in some issues if you don’t understand the language.

Hotstar LogoHotstar is the streaming service of the Star network. As a result, users can view all sports that are covered by Star. These include cricket, tennis, the EPL, and a host of Indian sports leagues such as the Indian Super League and the Premier Badminton League.

Live matches are sometimes free to stream on Hotstar, but these are interrupted by ads. For an ad-free and HD experience, you can pick up a Hotstar subscription. These are offered at different price points and are really cost-effective. In addition to sports, Hotstar has a large catalog of TV shows and movies, which are included in the subscription.

ProsCons
A wide variety of sports to choose fromLive streams sometimes lag by a few minutes
A wide variety of sports to choose fromAds are intrusive and repetitive

7. DAZN

DAZN LogoDAZN is an over-the-top streaming platform that focuses just on sports. Unlike some of the other official sites listed above, DAZN does not have tie-ups with any major cable broadcaster. While it started out with a focus on the UFC, it now covers 8000+ sports events per year spanning football, American football, darts, and the WWE.

Initially, DAZN was limited to a few countries, like Japan and Australia. But it has now launched its services in more than 200 nations, providing a truly global streaming service.

DAZN also offers a free one-month subscription for new users. You can use this to try out the services. If you don’t like them, you cancel your subscription and get a full refund.

Red Bull TV LogoThis one is for fans of adventure sports. Red Bull is one of the most established brands in sports like surfing, motor racing, snowboarding, skating, and so on. It has free live streams for several of these events on its website, Red Bull TV. In fact, you don’t even need to create an account to start watching live sports on the website!

The website also provides a host of information on different sports, athletes, and upcoming events. It is a great resource for adventure sports enthusiasts to learn more about the sport and stay up to date.

Red Bull TV is available on virtually any device you can think of including Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and even the Oculus headsets.

ProsCons
One of a kind site for adventure sportsDoes not cover mainstream sports

Best Unofficial Free Sports Streaming Websites

Unlike the official services listed above, non-official services do not have broadcast rights for sports events. Instead, they rely on finding open streams in different countries across the world. Since they are unofficial, there is a risk that the streams provided on these sites are illegal. To avoid any potential trouble, always check the legality of VPN use for streaming in your country.

9. 123TV

123TV LogoIf you’re looking for a website that provides access to the leading US sports channels, then 123TV is your best bet. 123TV provides live streams of channels like ESPN, NBC, NBA TV, and Showtime among others. This means it provides live streams for most American leagues, such as the NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA college sports as well!

The interface is one of the best we’ve used. The layout of large icons makes navigating through the channels a pleasant experience. All streams open on the website itself, which means no ads and no unnecessary redirection.  The best feature of 123TV is that it provides access to a whole catalog of other channels, such as HBO, ABC, Cartoon Network, and the Disney Channel.

The downside of 123TV is that the site is sorted according to channels and not sports or events. Unless you know the broadcast schedule beforehand, finding a specific match can prove to be a challenge.

ProsCons
Access to leading American sports channelsSchedule of events/matches is not provided
High-quality streams that open within the website
Very few ads
Extensive catalog of non-sports channels

10. USTVGO

USTVGO LogoUSTVGO is a minimalist alternative to 123TV. Both offer live streams of US channels, but the USTVGO site is much simpler though less visually appealing. You can use this website to watch channels such as Fox Sports, YES Network, the Olympic Channel, and several others. Due to its focus on the US market, USTVGO doesn’t have much to offer for fans of sports like cricket and field hockey.

Unlike 123TV, USTVGO offers a TV Guide on its websites. You can use this to determine the time at which a specific sports event will be broadcast.

In addition to sports, USTVGO gives you access to 94 other channels. These are mostly news, entertainment, and kids’ channels such as Nickelodeon, MTV, and MSNBC. This makes USTVGO a one stop solution for the entire family’s entertainment needs.

ProsCons
Simple and easy to use interfaceLimited appeal for users outside the US
No ads or pop-ups
Broad range of channels, in addition to sports

11. Live Soccer TV

LiveSoccerTV

Live Soccer TV is a free sports streaming website that lets you watch Soccer, NFL, Cricket, and Rugby games. The website has an easy-to-use interface that separates the different sections by matches, competitions, teams, and channels. You can also see the scores for past games and check out live matches and news directly from the homepage.

In addition to the browser version of the website, you can also download an Android or iOS app to access different sports links.  The broadcasts are provided through a wide variety of sources such as NBCSN, Telemundo, NBCSports.com, and fuboTV.

The biggest drawback to using Live Soccer TV is that some of the streaming links are geo-restricted. This will depend on the streaming provider you choose. Some streams may only be available in the U.S. while others are only viewable in the U.K.

This issue can be solved by using a VPN, such as NordVPN (with 30-day money-back-guarantee), to easily route your internet traffic through another country.
Watch Live Soccer TV from anywhere with a VPN

ProsCons
Easy to use interfaceLimited access because of geo-restrictions
Mobile-friendly design
Reliable free live streaming links
Alerts for upcoming games
Real-time updates on games

12. FootyBite

FootyBite LogoFootyBite is one of our favorite sports streaming websites. Its interface is clean and very easy to use, with minimal ads. The links are reliable and some events are even available in high definition. The streams on FootyBite open on the website itself, without any redirection or pop-ups.

As the name suggests, the website is primarily focused on streaming football games. But other sports such as basketball, hockey, cycling and baseball are also covered.

The FootyNews section is another useful feature as it provides the latest information on football events from the major leagues.

ProsCons
Clean and minimalist interfaceCoverage of sports is slightly limited
Few ads and pop-ups
No redirection to other sites
No redirection to other sites

13. ROJADIRECTA

ROJADIRECTA streaming website logoIf you want a simple, no-fuss website that provides high-quality football streams, then ROJADIRECTA is what we recommend. The site hosts links for football matches in several countries and also provides basketball and tennis streams. Various kinds of links are provided for almost every event, for example, AceStream or Flash links. This means you can choose the type of link that will work best on your device.

The usual caveats that come with external links apply to ROJADIRECTA as well. Some of the links may not work while others may be in a language you don’t understand. Though we found the success rate of streams listed on ROJADIRECTA to be better than other competitors.

ProsCons
Simple and clean interfaceLinks are all external
Provides different kinds of streams to suit your deviceSome links open pages that are in different languages
Excellent option for football streams

14. Cricfree

cricfreetv logo horizontalCricfree is a free sports streaming website that specializes in providing links to cricket games, but also hockey, baseball, soccer, football, boxing, tennis, and racing. The website does a good job of managing its links, ensuring that each stream you pick works well when you go to watch the game.

Cricfree also has an easy-to-use interface that organizes the streams by the different types of sports available. In addition to the web version of the streaming version, you can also use the Android or iOS app to stay up-to-date on your favorite sports.

As with most of the websites on this list, Cricfree primarily provides links to streams hosted elsewhere online. The downsides to this include coming across potentially geo-restricted sources, as well as accessing websites that use pop-up ads.

The geo-restrictions for Cricfree can be lifted with a VPN though. You can try a VPN free for 30 days due to the money-back guarantee, by clicking the orange button below.
Watch Crifcfree without geo-restrictions now

ProsCons
Easy to use interfacePop-up ads are distracting
A comprehensive source for cricket gamesSome streaming links are geo-restricted
Provides access to international sports channels

15. CricHD

CricHD logo horizontalAnother website that live-streams a variety of sports is CricHD. Of course, the focus is on cricket but links for motorsports, rugby, hockey, tennis, and boxing are also available. The website is designed in a way that prioritizes functionality. It hardly takes any time to find the event you want to watch and get a working stream.

CricHD provides a mix of internal and external links. Internal links, which open on the website itself, work seamlessly. You may encounter a few ads, but that’s about it. External links are less reliable. Some of these don’t even lead to actual streams. So, you must exercise caution in choosing links on CricHD.

Like some of the other websites mentioned above, CricHD also features a live chat window. This is usually buzzing with debates and discussions between cricket fans.

ProsCons
Covers a variety of sportsExternal links are unreliable
Website is easy to use
Internal links work very well
Engaging live chat functionality

16. Live TV

LiveTV logo horizontalLiveTV has been around since 2006 and is one of the most reliable streaming sites on the web. The site is in Russian but your browser should be able to translate it into English or another language of your choice quite easily.

The sports covered on Live TV include football, swimming, tennis, basketball, and hockey. Its coverage of the Olympic Games is among the best out of the sites listed here.

Some great features differentiate Live TV from other free sports streaming websites. It provides a link score for each link to help determine which ones are the best. You can create an account that helps you keep track of your favorite teams and events. You can also get betting odds on the website itself.

ProsCons
Well reputed website with a variety of linksThe site is in Russian and some portions can be difficult to understand
Link scores help identify the best links to useThe Russian Government regularly targets sites like Live TV
Account creation allows you to track scores and get betting odds

17. Facebook Watch

Facebook watch logo horizontalFacebook Watch is a great platform for watching streams of a variety of sports online using your Facebook account. While there are a limited number of official sports streams, users can stream sports themselves through Facebook Watch for other fans to enjoy.

If you’re a baseball fan, you can view one MLB game each week during the regular season. This stream doesn’t cost you anything if you have a Facebook account and is an ad-free solution to watching games online for free. However, you should also be cautious of streams that look inauthentic as they may not be what you’re looking to watch and could contain illegal content.

All you need to do is log in to your Facebook account, head over to Facebook.com/watch, type sports into the search bar on the left, and select the Live filter option. If you’re looking for a certain game, you should try and search for the name of the team instead of the generic term “sports”.

ProsCons
Easy to accessLimited to one official MLB stream a week
Live chat encourages engagementVideo streaming quality may be worse than other sources
Variety of games available through live streamSome misleading streams may be present

18. BuffStreams

BuffStreams logo horizontalBuffstreams is a live streaming website that provides sports streams online for free. The website is designed to maximize usability and reliability for its users. For instance, the site has a number of fast action buttons, such as ‘upcoming’ and ‘live’, that you can use to find streams easier.

The sports available on this website include basketball, soccer, football, hockey, baseball, racing, UFC, WWE, boxing, tennis, golf, rugby, darts, and AFL.

The streams are all available in standard definition for free. You can watch streams in HD but some of the links require you to create an account to begin the stream. There’s also a chat window where you can engage with other people watching the game.

ProsCons
Website links are reliableAds play during videos

An organized website is easy to navigateNo option to download games
The chat feature is a nice addition

19. BossCast

Bosscastnet logo horizontalBossCast offers streams of sports from channels like NBA TV, ESPN, TSN, Eurosport, etc. The website also gives you a curation system that lets you watch games and events directly on its site, making it easier to enjoy the game.

As with other streaming websites, BossCast has a live chat service where you can engage with fans and sports communities as the game plays.

There are a couple of downsides to using BossCast that may impact your viewing experience. One drawback is that there are several aggressive pop-ups and ads that make enjoying the stream difficult. The other downside is that links open on different windows into new sites, causing some redirect headaches.

ProsCons
Can watch popular sports channelsPop-ups and advertising is aggressive
The curation system works wellRedirected links are annoying to deal with
The live chat feature is a nice addition

20. Sportrar.tv

Sportrar.tv LogoSportrar.tv has a clean interface that lets you stream a variety of popular sports including baseball, basketball, tennis, football, golf, hockey, cycling, and more. There is no sign-up or account required to watch the streams either!

The only drawback to Sportrar.tv is that the streams are available through external links rather than on the Sportrar.tv website. This means you’ll need to access the streams through either TV channels or official streams. To protect your privacy and safety while using external links, you should use a reliable VPN provider. Click the orange button below to get started with a NordVPN subscription.
Safely use Sportrar.tv with a VPN

ProsCons
The organized interface is easy to useStreams are only available off the website
Extra information about past games is a nice addition

21. LiveSport24

Livesport24 logo horizontalLiveSport24 has been around since 2008 and has become a popular one-stop shop for live soccer, basketball, baseball, football, racing, ice hockey, and almost any live sporting event you can imagine.

The interface is set up simply enough, you can scroll by the latest live broadcasts, or search out sports channels and browse by specific sports. While the usability and functionality of the site are great, you will have to navigate some aggressive and invasive pop-up advertising. Even a good ad-blocker won’t save you from all of them, and to get the streams to work, we had to let the pop-ups run their course. But once through, you do find high-quality, reliable streams.

Browsers mark this site as “insecure” upon navigating there, and streams are external links, so make sure to use a VPN before hopping over to protect your privacy, and yourself from potential threats.

ProsCons
Easy to use interfaceAggressive pop-ups and advertising
Wide selection of sportsSite doesn’t host streams

22. Stream2Watch

Stream2Watch LogoStream2Watch has both live TV and live sports streams available on its website. While you need to create a free account to access the streams, the reliability of the links makes it worth the extra step. Some of the sports offered on the website include boxing, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, and cricket.

This website doesn’t host its own content but collects links from other sites. This is a potential downside to the website because some of the links may redirect to illegal streams or may be broken.

You may need to deal with some invasive ads and broken links, but the ability to stream sports from around the world is worth dealing with these issues. You can also check out alternatives to Stream2Watch here.

ProsCons
Available on Android and iOS devicesNeed to create an account
Global sporting events are available for freeAds can be distracting and annoying
An organized website that’s easy to navigateSome links may be broken

23. Sportsurge

Sportsurge logo horizontalWith Reddit streams no longer active, Sportsurge has emerged as the go-to platform for the live-streaming community. Unlike FootyBite, the links on Sportsruge are all external. However, these are vetted and rated by the streaming community and are quite reliable.

Additionally, Sportsurge provides vital information about each stream, such as the framerate of the video and the number of ads one might encounter. This is particularly useful in avoiding illegitimate and malicious streams. The information is laid out nicely in the form of a table which makes it a breeze to assess each stream.

However, you must be careful when using Sportsurge. Several websites have popped up that pretend to be Sportsurge. But these are merely platforms for ad sellers and do not actually provide any live streams. To be safe, always use the link provided in this article as it is constantly updated and verified.

ProsCons
Reliable links provided by the communityAll links are external
Provides crucial info on ads, resolution, and framerateA large number of fake/pretend Sportsurge website
Several links are provided for each event

24. FirstRow Sports

FirstRow Sports logo horizontalFirstRow Sports is a name that has become synonymous with sports live streams over the last three or four years. It is particularly popular amongst football fans. Streams for almost every football match in the world can be found here along with streams for other sports, such as basketball, boxing, UFC, ice hockey, and rugby. Streams are sorted as per different sports, which makes it easy to find the event you’re looking for.

All the links provided on FirstRow are external. There is resultantly no guarantee that each stream works properly. In our experience, getting the right stream involves a lot of trial and error. Moreover, most links have at least two pop-up ads, which makes the whole experience less enjoyable.

Given that all links are external, you should use a VPN before clicking on links provided by FirstRow. This will help protect your identity and privacy online.  Click on the orange button below to get yourself started with a 30-day free VPN subscription.
Secure your online privacy on FirstRow by using a VPN

ProsCons
Provides streams for virtually every football matchAll links are external
Multiple links are provided for each eventMany links do not work
The site is well organized and easy to useLots of ads and pop-ups

25. BatmanStream

Batman Stream logo horizontalAnother website that provides streaming links for multiple sports is BatmanStream. In fact, the number of sports available on BatmanStream is the highest amongst all websites listed here. Some of the uncommon sports it covers include fencing, equestrian, handball, and e-sports.

The links on Batmanstream are hit or miss. Most of the HQ streams actually lead to a different website which requires a paid subscription to view content.  Only some of the “Flash Streams” actually work, and that too after several pop-ups.

There are a lot of ads on the site itself, which hinders the ease of use and navigation. The layout is also a little haphazard and may pose challenges to inexperienced users.

ProsCons
Extensive range of sportsLots of ads on the website
Poor usability
HQ streams do not usually work
Standard streams are inundated with pop-ups

Why Do People Use a VPN to Stream Live Sports?

Why You Need a VPN iconStreaming sports is one of the most popular reasons to use a VPN because it allows you to access content that’s otherwise geo-locked to specific locations. By connecting to a different country’s server with a reliable VPN you can stream sports from your location, no matter where you live.

Another important reason to use a VPN when streaming live sports is to protect yourself from malicious links and third-party trackers. A lot of streaming websites have links that are not safe to click on without taking the proper precautions. In addition to using a VPN, it’s critical that you install an effective antivirus program along with a popup and ad blocker.

Conclusion

There are a lot of great choices when it comes to finding live sports streaming services for free online. While some of these may be geo-locked depending on where you live, this problem is easily fixed with the use of a VPN. Even if the content isn’t geo-locked you should be using a VPN to protect your personal data. And, it also lets you watch other sports, like college football online from anywhere!

You should also keep in mind that some platforms and streaming links may not be legal in your country. That’s why you should always check your country’s laws around streaming and copyright protection before you decide to stream a live event or game.

Just remember to be cautious when looking for streaming links for live games and events because there are a lot of websites that host malicious links and third-party tracking programs. That’s why you need to make sure you’re using a VPN and antivirus program to protect yourself. Even if the content isn’t geo-locked you should be using a VPN to protect your personal data. The same principle applies when you use a popular streaming application like Kodi to stream sports.

  1. I dont get how espn and fox sports can be said to be free. Which they are not as far as I can tell.
Sure, its free to go to their website. But you aint gonna get no streming from them for free.
They ask for my credit card details. What for? No way.

    • We have added ESPN and Fox Sports because some of their videos are free. However, we do state that, for a lot of their videos, you do need a subscription. We did include them because some sports enthusiasts might be looking for highlights, in which case these are both still good options.

  2. Volokit is no longer a streaming site.

    • Thank you for letting us know, we’ll look into it!

  3. buffstreams takes you to a page to give a credit card for trial purposes unless I’m doing something wrong.

    • yes you are doing it wrong, they’re pop up ads ur going into
